Spice Temple - 2 - Sydney

The first time we went to spice temple was the month it opened and I must say we did not enjoy it. The food was too spicy and the service shocking. However since then we have been twice over the past 6 months and the food has been great each time. We tried a few different dishes this time but had to repeat some of the ones we really liked. The stir fried lamb in bread pockets and the shredded chicken with garlic. We have a new favorite this time though - the stir fried quail and peanuts with steamed egg custard. The variety in textures in this dish of the spicy, crunchy and creamy was amazing. A must try dish in my books. If you stay away from some of the really spicy dishes - you cant go wrong at spice temple and I was surprised that it has not been as expensive as I would have thought a Neil Perry restaurant would be.

Fried squid with whole five spice and dark chili paste. I found the dish too dry and must say my fav fried squid dish is still the one at china doll

Steamed Blue eye fillet hunan style - with salted red chili and pickled green chili

Stir fried king abalone mushrooms with garlic and chives

Stir fried quail and peanuts with steamed egg custard

Sichuan style David Blackmore's wagyu beef hotpot with wild bamboo pith, tofu, organic bamboo shoot and lap cheong

Warm pineapple cake with caramel cream. This was really yum. Warm and sweet…

Orange jelly cake with orange blossom fairy floss. Was really like an orange lamington. Not a fav on the table.

Spice Temple - Sydney

Having enjoyed Neil Perry's past Asian restaurants - Wockpool and XO - it is great having another of his trendy modern regional chinese restaurant in town. Spice Temple is a beautiful restaurant with a great ambiance, exotic cocktails and a delicious array of food.
